Orange "Chicken" Tofu

Another favorite tofu recipe of ours is definitely Orange “Chicken” Tofu 😍!

Ingredients:

400 g natural tofu
1 tbsp soy sauce
2-3 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp oil for frying

1 tbsp chopped ginger
2 cloves of garlic
200 ml vegetable broth
200 ml orange juice (freshly squeezed)
130 g whole cane sugar
60-70ml vinegar (rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar...)
60 ml soy sauce
Zest of an organic orange
Chili as needed

1 tbsp cornstarch
60ml water

For the tofu:
1) Squeeze the tofu in a cloth and then cut it into cubes.
2) In a bowl, mix the tofu cubes with soy sauce and add cornstarch.

3) Heat the oil in a coated pan and fry the tofu cubes until crispy and transfer.

For the sauce:
1) Chop ginger and garlic/cut into small pieces.
2) Grate the top layer of the orange, then cut it in half and squeeze it out.
3) Measure out the vegetable broth, vinegar, soy sauce and sugar and stir in the cornstarch + water mixture.
4) Briefly sauté the ginger and garlic in the pan, then add all the ingredients except the starch-water mixture and let everything cook for a few minutes.
5) Add the starch-water mixture and let the sauce thicken and season to taste.
6) Add the tofu cubes, let them steep briefly and serve with rice, vegetables and sesame.
